At PhoneBurner, we’re excited to offer SMS as a powerful, flexible way to connect with your contacts.
Before you can start texting, you will need to be on a Premium plan, have completed a Business Verification Form, and completed the registration process required by the major U.S. mobile carriers (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) via our SMS Approval Form.
This process—known as A2P 10DLC registration—is designed to protect consumers from spam and ensure that business texting is used responsibly. While it may sound complex, our Trust & Safety team is here to guide you every step of the way.
As part of this process, there is a one-time, nonrefundable $50 SMS application fee.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my text message history not visible on my SMS tab?
When a message is sent to a contact, only the agent who sent the message will see it on the SMS tab. If the contact is transferred to another user or to the admin, the message is not visible to other users at this time.
Can I send images/pictures with SMS?
While our messaging system will allow you to receive images from a user, it will not allow you to send images (MMS) at this time.
Can a text be sent to any of the numbers I own?
On Premium accounts, inbound SMS will show up on PhoneBurner numbers, or numbers with the routing strategies of "Myself" or "Team Member" with Number Pools enabled.
Number Pools numbers using other routing strategies (Last Caller, External Number) on Premium accounts cannot receive SMS, nor can any number on a Standard account, a Professional account, or an external number used as Verified Caller ID.
What happens if a recipient of an SMS replies STOP?
If a recipient of an SMS message sent via Phoneburner replies with one of the following words in reply to an SMS message, they will no longer be able to be sent SMS from Phoneburner. This also adds the number to the individual account’s DNC list:
“STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT”
They can re-subscribe or ask to be added back after unsubscribing by sending a reply back:
“START, YES or UNSTOP”
At this time, there is no flag on the Phoneburner side to indicate if a user has unsubscribed from SMS other than the words in the messages appearing in the SMS tab.
