✅ Summary:
This training video explains how to use the Contact Change Log section within PhoneBurner’s Advanced Search feature to find contacts based on past activity, such as:
- Contacts moved into or out of a folder during a specific date range.
- Contacts who had tags added or removed during a certain period.
- Contacts who were assigned a specific call result (disposition) within a timeframe.
- Contacts moved to trash or archive.
This functionality is especially helpful for troubleshooting (e.g., if contacts were accidentally moved), auditing past actions, or segmenting contacts by activity. It differs from the standard search because it focuses on historical changes, not current contact status. The speaker also emphasizes using the date range filters to narrow results and prevent confusion.

📝 Cleaned-Up Transcript:
Can I search for all of the contacts that were moved out of a specific folder during a specific date range?
The answer is—of course—yes! Why else would I be making this video?
As we continue through the Advanced Search Training Module, this video focuses on the Contact Change Log section of the Advanced Search.
Let’s open it up. You’ll see a dropdown menu with several options:
- Moved to or from a folder,
- Tags added or removed,
- Specific call results (dispositions),
- Moved to Trash or Archive.
🔄 Moved To a Folder
Let’s start with “Moved To Folder.” Say I choose the Follow-Up folder and hit Search. That returns 27 contacts. But when I check the Follow-Up folder directly, I only see 10 contacts. What gives?
Well, the Change Log shows any contact that was ever moved into that folder, not just what’s currently in it. Since I didn’t specify a date range, it’s showing historical data—all-time.
If that’s what you want (e.g., a list of everyone who has ever been in your Follow-Up folder), great! But to focus your search, use the date range filters.
For example:
- Set the date range to before January 1st of this year.
- Now the search returns contacts moved to that folder before that date.
- If I adjust the range to since January 1st, I only see one new contact. Very insightful!
🔄 Moved From a Folder
This can be incredibly helpful if you accidentally moved contacts out of a folder and want to recover or review them.
Example:
- Set “Moved From Folder” = Leads Folder.
- Add a date range (optional).
- Run the search.
Now you’ll see every contact moved from that folder—ever or within the date range you choose.
🏷️ Tag Changes
You can also search for:
- Contacts where a specific tag was added or removed,
- Within a defined time frame.
This is useful for campaign or automation audits, like checking which contacts had a tag removed after a promotion ended.
📞 Call Result (Disposition) History
This section is different from the Dial Session section:
- Dial Session → Shows the contact’s current call result.
- Change Log → Shows contacts who ever received that call result, even if they’ve since been updated.
Example:
- Select “Call Result = Left Message.”
- Choose After Jan 1.
- Hit Search.
If you don’t get many results, it might be because you’re using custom dispositions like “Voicemail – Ask Me” or “Voicemail – Next Contact” instead. Adjust your search accordingly.
You can also combine results:
- “No Answer,” “Busy,” “Appointment Booked,” etc.
- Helps identify which contacts received which outcomes, and when.
🔍 Where Is This Info Logged?
Every action is visible on the contact’s Changes tab.
Example:
- A contact moved from Follow-Up to Appointment Scheduled,
- Or their call result updated from “PB Biz” to “Booked Appointment.”
These actions are logged and searchable through the Contact Change Log.
✅ Recap
The Contact Change Log helps you search based on what happened, not just what is. You can filter by:
- Folder changes,
- Tag modifications,
- Dispositions used,
- Trash/archive actions.
This is a powerful way to track history, fix mistakes, or analyze performance.
Thanks for taking a moment to watch this video. I hope it helps you and your organization get more done in less time using the power of PhoneBurner.
Happy dialing!
