✅ Summary:
This video focuses on how to create a follow-up process for “Not Interested” contacts in PhoneBurner using the Advanced Search feature. Instead of continuing to call these contacts every few days—which could be annoying if someone already declined interest—you can pause outreach and schedule a strategic follow-up after a set time period, such as 30, 60, or 90 days.
The recommended approach:
- Move contacts who say they’re not interested into a "Not Interested" folder.
- Use Advanced Search to filter for contacts in that folder who haven’t been called in X days (e.g., 90 days).
- Save this search as “Not Interested Calls” and pin it to your dashboard.
- Regularly check this view to re-engage with contacts who may have been uninterested previously due to bad timing.
This ensures you're still following up while respecting the contact's space and improving long-term connection chances.

📝 Cleaned-Up Transcript:
What are you doing with people who say they’re not interested?
Most of the time, it’s really just bad timing. In my opinion, you should follow up with them again—but not by keeping them in your regular calling process. If you've been following along with our other videos, you might have a process where you're calling people every couple of days. But if someone says they're not interested and then you call them again just days later, they probably won’t be thrilled about that.
In this specific training, we’ll continue discussing the Advanced Search feature in PhoneBurner, and how to create a smart follow-up process for people who tell you they’re not interested.
Let’s get started.
Go ahead and click on the Advanced Search menu. Within that, head to the Folder section. Hopefully, you've already created a folder in PhoneBurner specifically for “Not Interested” contacts. You might have one catch-all folder, or multiple ones segmented by campaign—that’s up to you.
As you’re calling through your list and someone says they’re not interested, move them into this “Not Interested” folder.
Now, we don’t just want to search for everyone in that folder—we want to find people who haven’t been called for a certain amount of time. Everyone will have their own opinion here, but let’s talk mechanics.
Scroll down to the Last Called option in the Dial Session section. Change it from “on” to “before X days ago.” Maybe you want to wait 30, 60, or 90 days—it’s up to you. Enter your chosen number. This allows contacts to cool off before you reach out again, add them to another campaign, or try a new outreach.
In most cases, we don’t need to worry about total call attempts. The two filters we really care about are:
- The contact is in the Not Interested folder.
- The contact hasn’t been called for at least X days.
Let’s say we’re using 90 days. We’ll save this as a saved search named “Not Interested Calls.” Hit search—and in my demo account, I now have 11 contacts that match.
This might be a good time to reach back out and see if the timing has changed. Often, people say “not interested” not because they heard you out, but because it wasn’t the right moment. So now, 90 days later, is a chance to reconnect and give them a second look at the value you're offering.
Important note: This is not for people who say, “Don’t call me again.” Those contacts should be moved into your Do Not Call folder and should never be contacted again. What we’re talking about here is a re-engagement process for those who may have brushed you off without fully hearing your pitch.
If you plan to use this follow-up method regularly, be sure to pin this saved search so it shows up in your Quick Views. Remember—because of the delay (e.g., 90 days), this list may remain empty for a while after setting it up. So it’s crucial that it doesn’t fall off your radar.
Anyway, that’s how you can set up a simple, effective process for following up with “Not Interested” contacts to get more out of your PhoneBurner data.
Thanks for watching—and happy dialing!
