When importing contacts, all contacts are imported at the same time, so the order is not kept in the contact manager after they are imported.
There are a couple of ways to change this:
1. PhoneBurner has number fields available, so you can add a sorting column in Excel that is numbered 1, 2, 3, etc and this will help with the sort.
First, add a custom field to PhoneBurner for the Sort and then add the column to your Excel file as a numeric field.
Note: It may show an error as a number stored as text.
This method alone may require you to remember where you left off if you want to continuously number your contacts or you use advanced search to search by an import date and then sort by the sort column.
2.) You could use this method with the first or alone. You could add an import date code.
After selecting file to import, I map my fields and add the custom fields that I created.
After the import, I made the Import Date Code and the Sort Option visible in my Contact Manager layout and I can see they did not come up in the order I wanted.
So now I can sort them by the import date code or the sort number I added.
If I had imported more than one batch using codes, I could also use advanced search to find the import date and then sort by the code after they were pulled.
