If you are in a dial session and all of your buttons are grey or greyed out, go to your Dialer settings and check your disposition settings.
If you have a voicemail option chosen other than "None" in your disposition, the button will not be available unless a voicemail is detected as having picked up. For any button that is not actually a voicemail, make sure the voicemail selection is set to 'None'.
