Many people refer to the time allowed for a user to pick up the phone as ring duration. PhoneBurner allows you to edit the ring duration, editing the amount of time PhoneBurner will try to connect with a number before it displays a message that the call has ended and you will need to disposition the call to move to the next.
.This can be helpful when you reach a user who has not setup their voicemail system or does not have an answering machine. To setup your Ringing Duration follow the steps below.
Note: Most voicemail systems will pick up within 30-40 seconds.
- Dial Sessions > PhoneBurner Settings > General
- Find the heading Ringing Duration, review the description, and edit the drop down to the selection you would like to be used during your dial sessions.
- As always be sure to click Save Changes so the changes you have made will be saved.
If you are looking for people who are able to pick up the phone right away or choose not to leave voicemail messages then the recommended setting is to 25 seconds (this will typically work out to 3-4 rings). If you intend to leave messages, make sure you increase this ring time to something closer to 40 seconds or higher to allow the system to keep trying to reach the contact until the answering machine picks up. The longer the ring duration, the longer the system will keep trying to call the contact.
