✅ SUMMARY:
This video explains how to use the Leads by Source report in PhoneBurner to track how many leads have been added to your account from different lead sources over a specific date range. Lead sources can be applied during manual import, assigned by lead vendors posting directly to your account, or added via API. If no source is specified, PhoneBurner will assign a default label (e.g., “API,” “Import,” or “Add a Contact”). To access this report, go to the Reports tab and click on Leads by Source under Standard Reports. You can then select a date range (e.g., past 7 days, 30 days, year-to-date, etc.) to view the number of leads from each source. This is particularly useful for verifying that vendors are delivering leads as expected.

🧼 CLEANED-UP TRANSCRIPT:
When you're importing contacts into your PhoneBurner account, you have the option to apply a lead source to the leads or contacts you're importing at that time.
If you're receiving leads through a lead vendor and they're posting those leads automatically to your PhoneBurner account, each of those leads will be assigned a lead source when added to the system. If you're using the API to feed contacts into your account, you can also assign a lead source to those leads.
So, there are multiple ways that lead sources can be applied to contacts in your PhoneBurner account.
Reporting on Leads by Source
Wouldn't it be helpful to report on how many leads you're receiving based on lead source or vendor? Absolutely—and there’s a simple way to do that.
Scroll to the top of your screen and click on the Reports tab.
In the Standard Reports section, you’ll find an option called Leads by Source. Click on that, and you’ll be taken to a report showing all leads added to your account during the currently selected date range.
Adjusting the Date Range
In this example, the default date range is set to the last 30 days, but you can change that by clicking on the Date Range menu. Available options include:
- Today
- Yesterday
- Last Week (Monday through Friday)
- Last Month
- Past 7 / 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 180 / 365 Days
- Month-to-Date
- Year-to-Date
- Custom Date Range
Because this is a demo account, I’m selecting Past 365 Days to pull more data.
Interpreting the Report
This report does not consider whether leads have been called, emailed, or contacted in any way. It only shows how many leads were added to your account during the selected time frame—broken down by lead source.
In this example:
- 1,000 leads were added with a source labeled Connect Score
320 leads were added under a Generic API source
This happens when leads are pushed via API without a defined lead source.
Other sources include Import, Special Vendor, Inbound Call, and Add a Contact
If you manually add a contact without assigning a source, it will default to "Add a Contact"
This view helps you track lead flow by source and ensure, for example, that your lead vendors are actually delivering the volume they’ve promised. If leads from a vendor don’t appear here, they’re not making it into your PhoneBurner system.
And that’s it! A quick overview of how to use the Leads by Source report to gain visibility into where your contacts are coming from.
Thanks for watching—I hope this helps you and your organization get even more out of PhoneBurner.
Happy dialing!
