Some of you using the PhoneBurner system have the ability to send text messages. You can manually send texts from within your dial session window, you may have configured some dispositions to trigger a text when selected, or you might send text messages directly from the Contact Details page in your PhoneBurner account.
Regardless of how you're sending messages, if you're using PhoneBurner to send texts, you may want to report on how many messages you or your team has sent and received during a specific date range. That’s what we’ll cover in this training.
Accessing the SMS Usage Report
From within your PhoneBurner account, click on the Reports tab at the top.
This takes you to the PhoneBurner Reports section.
On the left-hand side under Standard Reports, you’ll see an option for SMS Usage.
⚠️ Note: If SMS is not enabled on your account, you won’t see this option. It's only available to accounts that have activated the SMS (text messaging) feature.
Viewing SMS Data
Once the SMS Usage Report loads, you can select a date range.
By default, a date range will already be selected, but you can change it by clicking the Date Range menu. Here are your available options:
- Today
- Yesterday
- Last Week (Monday through Friday)
- Last Month
- Past 7 / 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 180 / 365 Days
- Month-to-Date
- Year-to-Date
- Custom Date Range
For this demo, I’m selecting the Past 365 Days so we have more data to work with—though this is still a demo account, so the numbers are limited.
Understanding the Report
The report shows:
- Each team member's name
- Messages Received
- Messages Sent
- Opt-Out Rate
- Whether or not you’ve had to purchase additional SMS credits
For example, in this demo account:
- Jeff received 2 messages
- Jeff sent 39 messages
- His opt-out rate is 0%
- No additional SMS messages were purchased
PhoneBurner includes a certain number of SMS messages with your plan, but once that threshold is exceeded, you'll need to purchase additional credits. This report helps you monitor that usage so you can manage your SMS spending effectively.
