✅ Summary:
This training video walks through how to delete a LeadStream in PhoneBurner and highlights important considerations before doing so. Deleting a LeadStream may seem straightforward, but it can impact connected elements like folders, dialer presets, and reporting.
Key Points:
- Why Delete a LeadStream?
Sometimes a LeadStream has served its purpose and is no longer needed in your active view. - How to Delete:
- Go to Contacts > Gear icon > LeadStream
- Select the LeadStream to delete (in this example, one called "Delete Me Please" was created for demonstration)
- Click the trash icon
- You’ll be warned that reporting will be lost for that LeadStream
- Consider Before Deleting:
- Deleting a LeadStream removes access to its reports
- Any linked folders or dialer presets may not be deletable afterward due to cached associations
- Best practice: disable the LeadStream instead of deleting it to preserve reporting and prevent issues
- Cleanup Recommendations:
- Reassign or unlink dialer presets before deletion
- Check folder assignments and remove them from the LeadStream to avoid future deletion issues
- If you encounter errors deleting folders or presets, you can:
- Repurpose them for another LeadStream
- Or contact support for help cleaning them up
By following these best practices, you can safely remove unused LeadStreams and maintain system integrity.

📝 Cleaned-Up Transcript:
As you know—or you should know—PhoneBurner is all about helping you connect with more people in less time and having more quality conversations with your prospects. That’s how we all make more money, right?
In our LeadStream training module, we’ve been discussing how to use LeadStream features to automate lead distribution for your team to boost efficiency and productivity.
But in this video, we’re going to focus on a different topic: deleting a LeadStream. Sometimes, you’ve used a LeadStream, and it’s simply time to remove it from your active list. So let’s talk about how to delete a LeadStream—and more importantly, what to consider before you do.
🚨 Deleting a LeadStream (Step-by-Step)
From your Admin account, go to:
- Contacts > Click the gear icon in the top-right
- Select LeadStream
- For this demo, I’m going to create a LeadStream called “Delete Me Please” just to walk you through the process without impacting anything important.
I’ll create it as a Blind Pull LeadStream to show how deletion affects connected items like dialer presets and folders.
So:
- I name it Delete Me Please
- Add a dialer preset with the same name
- Create a distribution folder and a receiving folder
I won’t go deep into what these things mean since other videos cover that. For now, I just want a complete LeadStream ready for deletion.
🗑️ Before You Hit Delete
On the LeadStream list, you’ll see the new stream with a trash icon. If I click it, a warning pops up:
“Are you sure? You’ll lose access to reporting.”
That’s very important. You may want to disable the LeadStream instead of deleting it. This way, you can retain access to reports and just move it to the bottom of your list for organization.
🔄 Dependencies to Check
Let’s look deeper before deleting:
- The LeadStream has a dialer preset, a distribution folder, and a receiving folder assigned.
- Go to Folders under Contact Settings—you’ll see the “Delete Me Please” folders.
- Notice: You can’t delete them right now. The trash icon is disabled because they’re tied to the LeadStream.
- Go to Dialer Presets—you’ll see our demo preset.
- This one looks deletable, but if you try, it will fail because it’s still linked to the LeadStream.
So—before deleting, you should:
- Unlink or change the dialer preset used by the LeadStream
- Optionally repurpose the dialer preset or folder if you plan to reuse it
- Save your changes
✅ Deleting the LeadStream
Now that we’ve unlinked the dialer preset:
- Go back to LeadStreams
- Delete the “Delete Me Please” LeadStream
- It’s now gone from the list
Return to Dialer Presets, and now you can delete the preset because it’s no longer tied to anything.
Check Folders again, and now both folders are deletable too.
🧹 Final Notes
If for any reason you:
- Still can’t delete the folders or dialer presets
- See caching issues
- Or have any unexpected problems
You can:
- Rename and repurpose them for something else
- Or contact our support team, and we’ll help clean up those components for you
Just remember: deleting a LeadStream removes access to its reports, so weigh your options. Disabling is often safer.
Thanks for taking the time to watch this video, and as always—happy dialing!
