Summary:
This training video explains how to set up and use the Call Begin web hook in PhoneBurner. The Call Begin web hook is triggered the moment a call starts during a dial session. Using Zapier, the trainer demonstrates how to configure a “Catch Hook” to receive call start data from PhoneBurner, and how to log this information into a Google Sheet in real time. Data captured includes the contact name, caller name, phone number, and contact ID. This automation helps users track call initiations live and can be extended to integrate with CRMs or other systems for broader workflows.

Cleaned-up Transcript:
Hello there! Thank you for taking a moment to watch this video. In this specific training, we’re continuing the web hook training module—focusing now on the Call Begin automated web hook.
What Is the Call Begin Web Hook?
This web hook is triggered at the start of every call in a dial session. For example, when you start dialing a queued contact, the Call Begin web hook activates at the moment the call begins—not when it ends or is dispositioned.
Step 1: Set Up the Web Hook in Zapier
We’ll use Zapier in this example (though any system that accepts web hook URLs will work).
- Create a new Zap and name it Call Begin Webhook.
- Select Webhooks by Zapier as the trigger.
- Choose Catch Hook as the event and continue.
- Copy the provided webhook URL.
Step 2: Add the Web Hook to PhoneBurner
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Web Hooks in PhoneBurner.
- Paste the copied URL into the Call Begin field.
- Save your changes.
Step 3: Trigger the Web Hook
Begin a dial session in PhoneBurner:
- Click Start Dialing—as soon as the first contact is called, the Call Begin web hook is triggered.
- Go back to Zapier and click Test Trigger to view the payload received.
This data includes:
- Contact first and last name
- Caller (owner) first and last name
- Phone number being called
- Contact ID (user ID)
- Lead ID (if available)
Step 4: Log to Google Sheets
Now let’s capture this data into a Google Sheet:
- In Zapier, add a new action: Google Sheets > Create Spreadsheet Row.
- Before continuing, create a new worksheet in Google Sheets titled Call Begin with headers like:
- Contact Name
- Caller Name
- Phone Number
- Contact ID
- Lead ID
- In Zapier, select the correct spreadsheet and worksheet.
- Map the fields:
- Combine contact first and last name.
- Combine agent first and last name for the caller.
- Use the primary phone number.
- Include the contact’s PhoneBurner ID.
- Add the lead ID if available.
- Click Continue, test the action, and confirm the information is logged to your sheet.
Step 5: See It in Action
Once published:
- Any time a call begins in a dial session, the contact’s info appears in the Google Sheet.
- You can track call activity in real-time without manual input.
This runs automatically in the background once the web hook is configured.
Thanks again for watching! I hope this helps you and your team get more done in less time using the power of PhoneBurner. Bye for now and happy dialing!
