Summary:
This video covers the setup and usage of the Email Unsubscribe web hook in PhoneBurner. When contacts unsubscribe from emails—typically by clicking a link in an email sent via a call outcome—PhoneBurner tracks this action. The email unsubscribe web hook allows you to push this unsubscribe event to an external system in real-time. Using Zapier, the trainer demonstrates how to create a web hook that captures contact details and logs them in a Google Sheet, including contact name, email address, contact ID, and the date/time of the unsubscribe. This ensures email suppression preferences can be synced across systems, helping maintain compliance and consistent communication.

Cleaned-up Transcript:
Hello there! Thank you for taking a moment to watch this video. In this training, we’re continuing our discussion on web hook integration options in PhoneBurner. Specifically, we’ll focus on the Email Unsubscribe web hook.
With PhoneBurner, you can send emails in various ways—most commonly triggered by a call outcome. These emails include an unsubscribe link. When someone clicks that link, PhoneBurner automatically updates their contact record to reflect the unsubscribe. But you may also need that unsubscribe data sent to another system, and that’s exactly what this web hook does.
Step 1: Create the Web Hook in Zapier
I’ll use Zapier for this demo (but you can use any platform that supports web hooks):
- Create a new Zap and name it Email Unsubscribe.
- Choose Webhooks by Zapier as the trigger.
- Select Catch Hook and click Continue.
- Copy the webhook URL.
Step 2: Apply in PhoneBurner
- In PhoneBurner, go to Settings > Integrations > Web Hooks.
- Paste the Zapier URL in the Email Unsubscribe field and save.
Now, whenever someone unsubscribes via an email, PhoneBurner will send their contact data to this web hook.
Step 3: Test the Web Hook
To test, I clicked the unsubscribe link in a test email, then confirmed that the contact record (in this case, Sarah) was marked as Unsubscribed in PhoneBurner.
Back in Zapier, click Test Trigger, and you’ll see the contact’s data has been sent through.
Step 4: Log to Google Sheets
Now let’s capture this information in a Google Sheet:
- In Zapier, add a new action: Google Sheets > Create Spreadsheet Row.
- Before continuing, create a new worksheet in your spreadsheet titled Email Unsubscribes.
- Add columns like:
- Contact Name
- Email Address
- Contact ID
- Unsubscribe Date
- Back in Zapier, connect to your Google account and select the correct spreadsheet and worksheet.
- Map the fields:
- Contact Name using first and last name.
- Email Address.
- Contact ID (User ID).
- For Unsubscribe Date, use Zapier’s timestamp feature to capture the current date/time.
- Test the Zap to confirm it logs correctly.
- Publish the Zap.
You should now see that unsubscribed contact’s details logged in your sheet.
Step 5: Extend to Other Systems
If you’re using another system—like a third-party email marketing platform—you could use this same web hook to automatically remove unsubscribed contacts from external campaigns, ensuring full compliance and clean data across all platforms.
As always, I’ve used Google Sheets just to demonstrate the setup. You can route this data anywhere you like.
Thanks again for watching. I hope this helps your team get more done in less time using the power of PhoneBurner. Happy dialing!
