Approval for text messaging isn't guaranteed and may take 15-20 business days or longer.
Approval is determined by the carriers, not PhoneBurner, but we are here to advocate for you along the process.
Checklist:
- Employer Identification Number (EIN): Ensure you have a valid EIN for your organization. We are unable to register sole proprietors for texting at this time due to carrier requirements, but we are actively working toward being able to offer this option in the future.
- Website: Ensure you have an accessible and functional website for your business.
- Privacy Policy: Make sure you have an up-to-date privacy policy on your site. A privacy policy is essential as it outlines how customer data is collected, used, and protected, ensuring transparency and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Contact Consent: Obtain clear written consent from your contacts to send them text messages. If you do not have consent, you cannot text them. There are no exceptions. Keep reading for information on how to obtain written consent.

- Consent Language: When collecting phone numbers through a contact form on your website, it's important to display opt-in language. This language should include your business name, information on how to opt-out, and a link to your privacy policy.
Important note: Make sure this language is placed above the submission button and is accompanied by a checkbox. - Federal, state, and local laws may require additional consent, depending on your use case.
