✅ VIDEO SUMMARY
If you're a Salesforce user trying to integrate the PhoneBurner power dialer into a customized Salesforce environment (e.g., Jungo, Rethink, Apto, AscendixRE), you might run into an OAUTH authentication error the first time you attempt to start a dial session. This video walks through how to fix that issue by editing the admin profile in Salesforce.
To resolve the OAUTH error:
- Go to Setup > Profiles in Salesforce.
- Locate and edit the admin profile assigned to you.
- Enable the option “Approve Unlisted Connected Apps” and save.
- After your first successful dial session, go to Connected Apps OAUTH Usage.
- Locate PhoneBurner and click Install to enable access for other users on different profiles.
Note: All users must have API access for PhoneBurner to function properly. While this fix resolves the error in most cases, individual profile settings may still cause issues.

📝 CLEANED-UP TRANSCRIPT
Are you a Salesforce customer looking to take advantage of the PhoneBurner power dialer directly within your Salesforce environment, so that you and your organization can start powering through calls at a rate of up to 60 to 80 dials per hour?
If that’s you, let’s talk for a moment.
If you’ve signed up for Salesforce not through Salesforce.com, but through a reseller—such as Jungo, Rethink, Apto, or AscendixRE—then you may be using a customized version of Salesforce.
One issue you might encounter the first time you try to start a PhoneBurner dial session is an authentication error. You’ll see an error message that looks something like this:
“OAUTH Error. We can't authorize you because of an OAUTH error. For more information, contact your Salesforce administrator. OAUTH approval error. Generic. An unexpected error has occurred during authentication. Please try again.”
Not helpful, right? But that’s why I’m here—to help you get past it.
First, go to the upper right-hand corner of Salesforce, click the gear icon, and choose Setup.
You need to be a Salesforce admin to make these changes. Once in Setup, use the Quick Find bar and type “Profile.” Click on Profiles to view all profiles available.
Now, locate the specific admin profile assigned to you in this customized Salesforce version. It could be something like “Jungo Admin,” “ASEX Admin,” or a similar custom name. If you're unsure which one is yours, look yourself up as a user and check the profile assigned to you.
Once you've identified your profile, click on it and then click Edit. You’ll now look for the setting called “Approve Unlisted Connected Apps.” Use your browser’s Find feature (Ctrl+F or Command+F) to locate it quickly.
Make sure that box is checked, and then click Save.
Once that’s done, you should be able to get past the OAUTH error and successfully authenticate—allowing Salesforce and PhoneBurner to communicate.
Now, if you’re the only one using PhoneBurner in Salesforce, you’re all set.
However, if other team members will also be using PhoneBurner and are assigned different profiles, there’s one more step:
Go back to the Quick Find bar and type in “Connected.” Choose Connected Apps OAUTH Usage.
In there, you’ll find PhoneBurner—but only after your first successful dial session. So make sure you complete that session first. Once PhoneBurner appears in this section, click Install and confirm the installation.
This will make PhoneBurner available for other users on different profiles.
Caveat: Due to the wide range of Salesforce configurations, it’s still possible that some users may run into issues. But for the most part, enabling this setting and ensuring API access on each user’s profile should allow most users to launch dial sessions without a problem.
That’s it! If you're facing that generic OAUTH error when trying to launch a dial session, and you're an admin, the likely issue is that your custom admin profile needs this option enabled.
I hope this helps you and your organization get the most out of the PhoneBurner power dialer.
Thanks again, and happy dialing!
