đź“‹ Summary
This video training focuses on how to use the “Begin Contact PhoneBurner Session” button from within the Opportunities object in Salesforce to initiate dial sessions that call the related Contact record instead of the Opportunity record itself.
When a dial session is launched this way:
-
The dialer displays Contact details in the iframe, not the Opportunity details.
-
All call activity, notes, and follow-up tasks are logged to the Contact record, not the Opportunity.
-
This setup is ideal for teams that want to work from their Opportunity list views but still track all call-related activity against the person (contact) rather than the opportunity.
This complements the other option—calling the Opportunity record directly—giving teams the flexibility to choose their preferred structure for call activity logging and visibility.

Hello there! Thank you for taking a moment to watch this video.
In this training, we’re continuing our Salesforce integration and setup, with a focus on the Opportunities object and how your team can power through calls based on open opportunities in your org.
If you’ve been watching this video series—(and I hope you have!)—you’ll recall we recently added two buttons to the Opportunities object:
Begin Contact PhoneBurner Session
Begin Opportunity PhoneBurner Session
Let’s focus on the Begin Contact PhoneBurner Session.
When you create an opportunity, like “Big Deal with George,” it creates an Opportunity record linked to a Contact—in this case, George Sample.
Each of these records—Opportunity and Contact—holds unique information.
Opportunity = deal-specific data
Contact = person-specific data
If I click on George’s name from the Opportunity, I can see his Contact record and all the relevant details tied to him.
Dialing the Contact from Opportunities:
When working in the Opportunities list view, sometimes you want to initiate a dial session that targets the Contact, not the Opportunity.
Let’s go ahead and launch a dial session using the Begin Contact PhoneBurner Session button.
Once connected, we start dialing, and you'll notice:
The iframe in the dial session window shows Contact details, not Opportunity details.
This gives you full visibility into the person you’re calling.
In this view, you can:
See the Contact’s call history
Access all notes tied to the Contact
Log call outcomes and dispositions
If I click Set Appointment to end the call:
The call activity is logged to the Contact.
It is not logged to the Opportunity.
Verifying Activity:
Let’s return to the Opportunity, then open George’s Contact record.
You’ll see:
The call activity from the session we launched through Opportunities is now logged on George’s Contact record.
So, when launching a dial session from the Opportunities object, think carefully about what record you want to call:
Do you want to call the Opportunity?
Or the related Contact?
Both options are supported. Just choose the appropriate button for your desired outcome.
Thanks again for taking the time to watch this video. We hope this helps you and your team get more done in less time using the power of PhoneBurner.
