đź“‹ Summary
This training video demonstrates how to initiate PhoneBurner dial sessions directly from Opportunity records in Salesforce. The process involves configuring the Opportunity object to support dialing and deciding whether to call the opportunity record itself or the related contact.
To dial opportunity records directly, they must include a phone number field, as PhoneBurner cannot call a record without one. The video shows how to create a custom Phone field on the Opportunity object, map it inside PhoneBurner’s integration settings, and then use the “Begin Opportunity PhoneBurner Session” button to launch the dial session.
During the dial session:
-
Users see the Opportunity details in the session window (not the related contact).
-
Notes, tasks, and call activities are logged back to the Opportunity.
-
Dispositions complete the session and log the call automatically.
The video also explains that the phone number field can be manually entered or created as a formula field to pull in phone data from related contacts.

Hello there! Thank you for taking a moment to watch this video.
In this training, we're continuing our Salesforce integration and setup for PhoneBurner®, with a focus on the Opportunities object.
Previously, we added the Begin Contact and Begin Opportunity PhoneBurner Session buttons to the Opportunity list view.
In this video, we’re diving deeper into how to use the “Begin Opportunity PhoneBurner Session” button to dial opportunity records directly.
Understanding the Setup:
Each object in Salesforce has its own records.
For Opportunities, that might be deals like "Big Deal with George."
That opportunity is related to a contact, but we may want to dial either:
The contact, or
The opportunity record itself.
The key difference is:
If you dial the opportunity, you’ll see its details in the dial session window.
If you dial the contact, you’ll see the contact's details.
Issue: No Phone Number on Opportunity
By default, opportunities don’t have a phone field.
To fix that, go to Setup > Object Manager > Opportunity > Fields & Relationships.
Click New, choose Phone, and name the field something like Opportunity Phone.
Map the Field in PhoneBurner:
Copy the API name of the new field.
Log into PhoneBurner, click your initials > Integrations > Salesforce > Details.
Under Field Mappings, add the new phone field and save.
Test the Setup:
Go back to Salesforce, refresh the Opportunity record, and add a phone number.
Now, click Begin Opportunity PhoneBurner Session.
You’ll see the Opportunity record in the dial session window.
Inside the session:
You can edit fields, create notes, or add follow-up tasks.
Any notes or activities are logged back to the Opportunity, not the contact.
After you disposition the call (e.g., “They Are Interested”), the session ends, and:
A completed call activity is logged to the Opportunity.
Notes and tasks appear on the record.
Summary:
To dial from Opportunities:
Make sure the Opportunity record has a phone field.
You can manually populate it.
Or use a formula field to pull a phone number from the related contact.
Map that field in PhoneBurner.
That’s it! You’re now set up to power through calls directly from Salesforce Opportunities.
Thanks again—and happy dialing!
