Activate Local Presence

If that sounds like you, PhoneBurner makes it extremely simple to configure specific number pools to work just like that.

Let me show you how to enable this feature on your PhoneBurner account and activate it on a number pool.

Step 1: Enable Local Presence

In the upper-right corner of your screen, click your initials and go to the Numbers section under Settings.
Next, click on Local Presence on the left-hand side.

Here, you'll see an overview of the Local Presence feature. If you'd like to enable it, click the Request button. This opens a form where you'll:

• Provide your business details,

• Agree to the terms and conditions, confirming that you have a local presence in multiple states.

Once your application and KYC verification are approved by PhoneBurner, you'll be able to use Local Presence in any of your number pools.

Step 2: Configure a Number Pool

Now, head to your Number Inventory. You'll see all your current number pools.

By default, these pools are set to Random, meaning PhoneBurner randomly selects from available numbers in the pool when placing a call.

For example, in my Wiback number pool, I have four numbers across three different states. Normally, the system randomly picks one of them during a call.

But if I want PhoneBurner to automatically choose the number that most closely matches the contact’s area code, I simply:

• Click Edit on the number pool,

• Change the Rotation setting from "Random" to Local Presence,

• Click Submit.

Now, calls made using this number pool will display the most local number available to the contact being called.
