As of June 1, 2023, AT&T requires all Branded Caller ID customers to work directly with its service provider, Hiya. Accordingly, AT&T will no longer support Branded Caller IDs activated by any third parties, including PhoneBurner.
PhoneBurner will continue to work on your behalf with the T-Mobile and Verizon service providers in order to deliver your Branded Caller ID on their networks. Service will remain the same on these networks. As a reminder, here is why you should continue to use Branded Caller ID.
Any Branded Caller ID customers from before June 1, 2023, will automatically be registered at no cost into AT&T’s Caller ID service, which will present your registered business name and number to a significant but smaller number of AT&T subscribers utilizing this service.
Prior to December 1, 2023, you can contact PhoneBurner Support if you have additional telephone numbers to register for Caller ID on the AT&T network. After December 1, 2023, you may maintain your business name and number registration information via FreeCallerRegistry.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this registration include?
By registering your business number and name, it will be used as one source of Caller ID on your calls to AT&T subscribers when you call them. AT&T may have other sources for Caller ID that include your information as well.
Will my business name be registered for AT&T’s Caller ID service if I tried to buy Branded Caller ID but have not been approved yet?
Yes, your business name and number will be automatically registered into AT&T’s Caller ID service.
What is AT&T’s Caller ID service?
Caller ID is a feature on the AT&T network where the known names of callers are presented on the recipient's incoming call screen. AT&T currently provides Caller ID as an included feature with some of its top-selling rate plans, and these are the customers who will see your Caller ID presented:
- Caller ID is included with the $3.99/mo AT&T ActiveArmor Advanced mobile security app.
- AT&T ActiveArmor Advanced is included with the AT&T Unlimited Extra and Unlimited Premium plans.
See https://www.att.com/security/security-apps for more information.
Is there more than one caller ID product?
On the AT&T network, there are two caller ID products. Some consumers receive “Caller ID” on incoming calls because they pay for the feature or it may be included with their rate plan. Substantially all consumers receive “Branded Caller ID” on behalf of business callers.
What if I want to use my name and not my business name?
Person names are excluded, and business names must be 32 characters or less.
